Welcome to Mom Brain —

A live documentation of the beautiful chaos of early motherhood and all the ways it transforms us.

Mom Brain began as an offshoot of Mind Brew, sparked by a personal challenge: to write 100 posts in the 100-day countdown to my son’s due date. After navigating the winding road of fertility, loss, and pregnancy, I wanted to reclaim the joy and presence that grief had stolen from me. What started as a simple writing practice became a lifeline—a space to process, reflect, and honor the little milestones that often go unseen.

Today, Mom Brain is where I document the messiness of early motherhood while sharing resources, reflections, and curated content on mothering with intention. Whether it’s navigating the mental load, creating space for yourself, or holding the paradoxes of joy and exhaustion, this is a space to be real, reflective, and rooted.

I write from the heart of my own experience: the transition from years of step-parenthood to becoming a mother to my son, born in July 2024. I’m here to hold space for the questions, the growth, and the evolving nature of motherhood.

About Me

I’m Marisol—a writer, brand strategist, and business-thinker based in NY. I’m a stepmom, dog mom, and now, a new mom to our baby boy.

Before this chapter, I spent years immersed in step-parenthood, a journey that shaped my understanding of family, identity, and caregiving. When motherhood through birth entered my life, it cracked me open in new ways. The physicality, the surrender, the deep recalibration—it’s an initiation I’m still living through.

Forever drawn to the intersection of movement, mindfulness, and creative flow, in 2023 I completed by 200-hour yoga teacher training with Y7. And before that, I got my degree in sociology and education studies, with a focus on children’s literacy development—you’ll always find me in the picture book section of a bookshop and a fresh notebook in my cart.

I also write Mind Brew, a Substack exploring systems for creative living.

I’m here to ask big questions, hold space for nuance, and explore motherhood as both a personal journey and a cultural phenomenon.
