There was one other element that I insisted on for the baby shower: daisies. I felt the flower was fitting for our theme—baby on (skate)board—and not too precious for a co-ed affair. Daisy colors are simple, bright, and happy. It’s a flower that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
And they were perfect. Once again shout-out to my mom for figuring out how to order a whole bunch of them and get them all over to the venue.
Daisies will always be the flower that reminds me of this pregnancy and this babe. My mom’s own association with me and tulips is the same way—a friend of hers came to my welcome-to-the-world party with a bouquet of beautiful tulips, and it’s just one of those flower memories that stay with you.
Last summer we rooted out all the overgrown plant life in our yard, with the intention of a fresh start and a focus to get our grass and soil healthy. I sense a landscaping revival for Summer 2025, when we aren’t so focused on nesting within the walls of this house. For now, our yard is green yet bare.
But today, walking out the door for some errands, I spotted some happy and unexpected yard-squatters.
Daisies. A whole bunch of them.
And they are staying.
