We are making our way through Star Wars — all movies and shows in chronological order of the universe’s timeline. These are fun family “watching projects” that I highly recommend, offering months of entertainment, great conversation and bonding, and a reduction in decision fatigue when it comes to what to watch during movie nights.
While I have no problem stomaching the light saber battles and the more gruesome scenes of the saga, one thing I did not prepare for was how heightened I’d get watching The Mandalorian — a series about finding and protecting a baby who’s been stolen across galaxies. Just tear out my mama heart now; I can’t take it.
I am awaiting my own baby Grogu right now. And often feel kin to Grogu myself, despite us being completely separate species living in completely different universes.
So here’s my pregnancy, as told through Mandalorian memes.
(1) Me, after I did literally anything on my feet during the first trimester.
(2) Whenever I make a demand for a food I’m craving or an accommodation that’s “for the baby.”
(3) Me to my husband every Saturday, when our little fetus is a week older and I check the apps.
(4) How I imagined my baby when we had the worst flight turbulence I had ever experienced.
(5) All the times in the early second trimester weeks, when I was sitting very still and trying to see if I could sense the baby kicking.
(6) Pregnant princess me joyfully bowing out of all the adventures and thrills that “expectant mothers should not ride” (with my consolation prize iced tea).
(7) Me justifying allll the things on the baby registry.
(8) Me, anytime my husband wanted some of the ice cream we were supposed to be “sharing.”
(9) Anytime I did anything around the house to prepare for the baby.
(10) My husband and me, almost every night in bed.
(11) Me, talking my husband through our birth preferences.
